MSC participates in NASA-sponsored project to develop a unified approach to computerized structural analysis. The program became known as NASTRAN (NASA Structural Analysis Program); one of the first efforts to consolidate structural mechanics into a single computer program

MSC founded by Dr. Richard MacNeal and Mr. Robert Schwendler with an initial investment of $18,000. Initially called the Mac-Neal Schwendler Corporation
Develops first program called SADSAM (Structural Analysis by Digital Simulation of Analog Methods); forerunner of MSC's flagship program, MSC Nastran
